Submissions and FAQs
Information for prospective contributors and current submission status.
What to submit
The journal periodically publishes thematic special issues in the history and philosophy of science and technology. Book reviews, original research articles, focused discussion papers, and opinion pieces may be considered. Papers of up to 8,000 words excluding citations are ideal; shorter contributions may be considered depending on the section.
Before submitting
Please format the manuscript in accordance with the APA Style Guide and use 12-point Times New Roman. Prospective authors should consult the current call for papers and author contract supplied by the editors.
Current status
The journal is not currently accepting unsolicited articles. Calls for papers are normally announced for a specific special issue. Follow the announcements page for future calls.
Making a submission
Submission intake and peer review take place by email rather than through this website. Contact spontaneousgenerations@utoronto.ca with questions.
Confidentiality
Before acceptance, authors retain copyright in manuscripts under consideration. Editors and referees are expected to preserve the confidentiality of submitted work and of the review process.
